Xambrê officials arrested in sexual exploitation investigation

Authorities in Xambrê, Paraná, have arrested the interim president of the Municipal Chamber, Edinalvo Lima Venturi, and the municipal Secretary of Culture, Pedro Henrique da Silva Mota, as part of Operation Gomorra. The investigation, conducted by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) and the Civil Police, targets sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, and the production and storage of sexual violence content involving minors.

Investigators report that at least 16 victims, aged between 13 and 17, were involved. Evidence suggests the suspects used their public positions to offer money, gifts, and government jobs in exchange for sexual relations and intimate media. The crimes reportedly occurred over a four-year period. The evidence against the officials was discovered during a separate investigation into bidding fraud and embezzlement.
