Xander Dierckx discusses new role and competition at Antwerp

Antwerp midfielder Xander Dierckx has addressed his tactical shift and the increased competition within the squad following his contract extension through 2028. Although naturally a central midfielder, Dierckx has frequently played on the flanks this season at the request of coach Marvin Compper.

Dierckx noted that while adapting to the wing is not easy, he is growing into the role by moving into the pockets of space to remain decisive. Regarding the arrival of Arthur Vermeeren, Dierckx expressed respect for his teammate's abilities but emphasized that playing time should be earned through current performance rather than past reputation.
