Xavi Simons unlikely to return to Tottenham until February
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Xavi Simons is unlikely to return to competitive football before February, according to reports. Despite recent social media activity from the player that sparked speculation about an imminent comeback, journalist Valentijn Driessen stated that the Netherlands international will still face a lengthy rehabilitation period.
Simons has been sidelined since sustaining a serious cruciate ligament injury in April. The injury required surgery and prevented his participation in the summer World Cup. While there is reported “quiet confidence” that he may return ahead of schedule, the current forecast suggests he will miss the demanding festive period for his club.
Despite his absence from club action, Simons remains a key figure for the Netherlands national team. The new Oranje head coach has confirmed that the playmaker remains central to long-term squad planning.
