Xavier Naidoo faces trial for alleged incitement to hatred
The Mannheim District Court has opened criminal proceedings against singer Xavier Naidoo regarding charges of incitement to hatred (Volksverhetzung) and insult. The court approved an indictment from July 2023, which alleges that Naidoo published antisemitic content and Holocaust denial via a Telegram channel between December 2020 and April 2021. Additionally, he is accused of insulting an individual associated with the Amadeu Antonio Foundation while disseminating antisemitic texts.
While the court allowed the 2023 indictment, it rejected other charges from both the 2023 and 2024 indictments due to a lack of sufficient suspicion. The Mannheim Public Prosecutor's Office has filed an appeal against these rejections, which is currently being reviewed by the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe.
Naidoo, 54, has previously expressed regret for his involvement in conspiracy theories in a 2022 video, stating, “I have said and done things that I regret today.” However, his legal team continues to deny all current allegations, asserting that he rejects all antisemitic or racist ideologies.
