Xàbia juice poisoning leaves mother and child injured
A five-year-old girl and her mother suffered severe poisoning and mouth injuries after consuming juice purchased from a kiosk in a recreational area of Xàbia, Alicante. The child experienced intense pain and vomiting blood due to wounds in her mouth caused by the beverage. The mother also sustained mouth injuries, though her reaction was less intense as she consumed a smaller amount.
Emergency services, including the Guardia Civil, Local Police, SVB, Red Cross, and SAMU, responded to the scene. Initial reports suggested the potential ingestion of ammonia. Due to the nature of the injuries, authorities suspect the juice may have contained a caustic substance. The Guardia Civil has seized the juice container for laboratory analysis to identify the specific substance involved. Both the child and her mother were transported to the hospital in Denia for medical treatment.
