Xbox adds exclusivity label to Series X/S dashboard

Microsoft will roll out a new “EXCLUSIVE” label on the Xbox Series X and Series S dashboard in summer 2026. The badge appears alongside existing Game Pass and optimization icons and indicates that a game is exclusive to Xbox consoles (and PC) and will not launch on PlayStation 5. Examples cited include the upcoming titles Gears of War: E‑Day and Clockwork Revolution, with the label applied on a case‑by‑case basis while multiplayer live‑service games remain cross‑platform.

The change follows Xbox’s recent strategic shift back toward first‑party exclusives and has drawn mixed reactions from the community. Some players welcome clearer signaling of exclusive titles as a reason to buy an Xbox, while others criticize it as a superficial move, noting that many “console‑exclusive” games still release on PC. The update arrives amid broader Xbox restructuring, including warnings of a larger layoff wave in July and reports of several studios being slated for closure.
