Gaming industry updates: PlayStation Plus changes and The Witcher 3 remaster

The gaming industry is seeing significant shifts in distribution and content. Sony has announced changes to its PlayStation Plus service, including the August lineup featuring titles like Dying Light 2, Big Walk, and Signalis. For September, the service will add Sniper Elite: Resistance, Chained Echoes, Wobbly Life, and MLB The Show 26, while removing ten titles such as the Shadowrun series, Toukiden 2, and various Deluxe-exclusive games.

In a strategic move regarding physical media, Sony plans to transition to exclusive digital distribution for new PlayStation games starting in January 2028. In response, Xbox has introduced a feature allowing Insiders to convert supported Xbox One and Xbox Series X discs into permanent digital licenses, aiming to preserve game access while offering digital flexibility.

Additionally, CD PROJEKT RED announced a robust remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, scheduled for release on September 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The remaster, developed in partnership with Yigsoft, includes enhanced graphics with ray tracing, refined combat, and free access to the original expansions for existing owners.
