Xbox commits to permanent console exclusives for upcoming titles
Xbox executives Matthew Ball and Matt Booty said the company will add more permanent console‑exclusive games, following the recent announcements that Gears of War : E‑Day and Clockwork Revolution will remain Xbox‑only. They clarified that the exclusivity policy will be applied on a case‑by‑case basis: large live‑service titles are expected to stay multi‑platform, while single‑player games are not automatically exclusive. Chief Strategy Officer Ball emphasized that exclusives are needed to grow the platform, but there is no strict rule that all single‑player titles must stay on Xbox.
The messaging, delivered in several interviews with GamesRadar+, reflects Microsoft’s broader strategic shift under Xbox head Asha Sharma. While the company plans to launch several new exclusive projects in the coming months, titles such as Fable, Halo Campaign Evolved and certain Call of Duty entries will continue to appear on PlayStation and PC due to existing agreements. Xbox will aim to announce the target platforms for each game at launch to reduce confusion among players.
