Xbox Announces Gears of War: E-Day as 2026 Exclusive for Series X/S and PC

At the 2026 Summer Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 6 2026 as an exclusive for Xbox Series X/S and PC, with no PlayStation 5 version. Xbox vice‑president of games marketing Aaron Greenberg said reports of a last‑minute PS5 decision are "not true," and studio director Matt Searcy reiterated that the game was never slated for the rival platform.

The prequel is set 14 years before the original title, depicting the first Locust uprising on Sera. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the game will feature ray‑tracing, destructible environments, and revamped movement mechanics. Multiplayer includes classic versus modes, split‑screen co‑op, online campaign co‑op, and a new 12‑player PvE “Horde Siege” mode.
