Xbox celebrates 25th anniversary with new controller release

Microsoft is marking 25 years of Xbox with the release of the Xbox X25 controller, a limited-edition gamepad featuring a translucent green design. The controller includes full-color face buttons and a commemorative stamp on the right grip, though it maintains the same functional specifications as the standard Series X model.

In an interview regarding the brand's design evolution, Xbox Head of Design Carl Ledbetter and Design Director Chris Kujawski discussed the ethos of creating bold, expressive consoles that reflect the technical capabilities of each generation. They noted that design choices, such as the orientation of the Xbox 360, aim to allow hardware to either stand out or recede into a home environment.

The X25 controller is scheduled for release on October 20. While previous pre-orders sold out quickly, stock remains available at several retailers in the US and UK, including Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon.
