Xbox creates XP division to expand franchises into film and TV

Xbox has announced the creation of XP, a new division dedicated to expanding its gaming franchises into film, television, consumer products, live events, and brand partnerships. The division aims to transform its intellectual properties into broader entertainment brands that reach audiences beyond traditional gaming.

XP is organized into four specialized pillars: Xbox Pictures for audiovisual adaptations, Xbox Products for merchandising and licensing, Xbox Partnerships for collaborations and sponsorships, and Xbox Places for live experiences, broadcasts, and potential theme park projects.

Kayleen Walters, formerly the president of Mojang and an executive producer for ‘A Minecraft Movie’, has been appointed President of XP. Concurrently, Maria Angelidou-Smith, previously Chief Product Officer at Reddit, will take over as CEO of Mojang and the Minecraft franchise.
