Xbox faces internal instability following new rounds of layoffs

Internal conditions at Xbox remain unstable following recent rounds of layoffs, including a recent cut affecting approximately 268 employees. An anonymous developer from id Software has reported a state of continued chaos and declining morale within the studios.

The developer criticized the leadership, including Xbox division CEO Asha Sharma, for a perceived lack of long-term strategic vision. According to the report, communication from management has been characterized as empty corporate jargon that fails to provide concrete direction beyond an immediate demand for increased profits.

Staff members expressed concern that the current financial targets are aggressive and unrealistic, particularly as smaller, restructured teams are expected to meet or exceed the performance goals previously set for larger workforces. This pressure, combined with the loss of institutional knowledge during previous restructuring phases, has contributed to significant uncertainty regarding the future of the division.
