Microsoft announced a global price increase for its Xbox Series X and Series S consoles that took effect on 1 August 2026. In the European Union the price hikes range up to €200 per model, while in the United Kingdom they reach up to £170. The new European retail prices are €499 for the 512 GB Series S, €599 for the 1 TB Series S, €749 for the Series X digital edition and €799 for the disc‑drive Series X. In the UK the corresponding prices are £429, £519, £619 and £669 respectively. Microsoft said the increases are driven by a sharp rise in memory and storage component costs, which have more than doubled (over 2.5 ×) and are expected to rise again by late 2027. The price hikes come as Xbox hardware revenue fell 10 % in the latest quarter and 13 % year‑on‑year, prompting a restructuring that will affect about 3,200 jobs. Sony and Nintendo have also announced price increases for their consoles, reflecting a broader industry impact of the component shortage. In Japan the Xbox Series X 1 TB disc model now costs ¥117,980, up ¥30,000 from ¥87,980.
