Xbox CEO Asha Sharma hints at potential exclusivity for The Elder Scrolls VI

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has suggested that Microsoft may return to a strategy of platform exclusivity, potentially impacting the release of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls VI. During a Gamescom interview with the BBC, Sharma addressed the topic of exclusivity by stating, “Every platform needs some form of exclusive experiences and content.” She noted that while titles like Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution have been shared, the company aims to continue providing exclusive content while maintaining “the context of the business being healthy.”

When directly asked if The Elder Scrolls VI would be an Xbox exclusive, Sharma did not provide a definitive answer, instead describing it as “a beautiful game.” This stance marks a possible shift from previous leadership under Phil Spencer, who had moved toward a multi-platform approach for Bethesda titles, such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

In a separate development, former PlayStation manager Shuhei Yoshida praised a new Xbox feature called “Disc-to-Digital,” which allows players to convert physical Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S discs into digital licenses. The program enables users to unlock a digital version of a supported title while retaining the ability to use, lend, or sell the original physical disc.
