Xbox outlines new exclusivity program focusing on select titles
Microsoft’s Xbox division announced that two upcoming games—Gears of War: E‑Day and Clockwork Revolution—will be exclusive to its consoles, marking a shift from earlier expectations that they would also launch on PlayStation 5. Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty said exclusives are intended to give players a clear reason to choose Xbox, while large multiplayer and live‑service titles will continue to be released on multiple platforms.
Xbox’s Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball described the move as the start of a broader exclusivity program, emphasizing a case‑by‑case approach and a “reliable pipeline” for future exclusive releases. He confirmed that many existing multi‑platform projects, such as Call of Duty, will remain so, and noted that details of upcoming exclusives are not yet public.
