Microsoft raises Xbox Series X and S prices worldwide effective Aug 1 2026

Microsoft announced that, starting 1 August 2026, the retail prices of all current Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will increase. 512 GB models are priced $100 higher, while 1‑TB versions rise $150; the 2 TB configuration is being discontinued. The company attributes the hikes to a prolonged “components crisis,” noting that memory and storage chip costs have risen more than 2.5 times and are expected to double again by late 2027, driven by intense demand for AI data‑center hardware.

The new list prices (U.S. dollars) are: Series S 512 GB $499, Series S 1 TB $599; Series X Digital 1 TB $749, Series X disc 1 TB $799. Equivalent price lifts are being applied in Europe, the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, Pakistan and other markets, with local currency conversions reflecting similar increases. Microsoft also introduced financing options – interest‑free installments, “Buy Now, Pay Later,” trade‑in and refurbished‑console programs – to mitigate the higher cost for consumers.

The hikes come as Xbox hardware sales have fallen to their lowest monthly levels and follow a series of leadership changes at the division, including the appointment of CEO Asha Sharma.
