Xbox to launch Mythic Achievements as PlayStation Platinum equivalent

Microsoft is preparing to launch ‘Mythic Achievements’ on Xbox, a new tier of recognition designed to serve as an equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies. Recent updates to the Xbox PC app have revealed the existence of these achievements, including their specific icon and a unique, approximately 15-second unlock sound effect.

Unlike standard achievements, Mythic Achievements are expected to reward players for completing the base version of a game. Reports indicate that they will likely exclude DLC and add-on content from the requirement, focusing instead on the ‘BaseGame’ group. These new accolades are expected to carry 0 Gamerscore, serving as a prestige marker rather than a point-based reward.

The system is anticipated to be applied retroactively, meaning players who have already achieved 100% completion in existing titles should automatically receive the Mythic status. Early indicators, such as achievement lists for the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day, suggest the feature may be implemented imminently.
