Xbox Series X25 anniversary consoles face massive scalping on resale markets
The limited edition Xbox Series X25 anniversary console has seen immediate and extreme price inflation on secondary markets following its pre-order launch. While the official retail price is set at $899.99 (or €899.99), scalpers on platforms such as eBay and Leboncoin are listing bundles for significantly higher amounts.
Reports indicate that some bundles, which include the translucent green console, a themed controller, and a copy of 'Halo: Campaign Evolved', have been listed or sold for between $2,000 and $2,800. Individual controllers are also being resold for up to $185, more than double their retail cost.
The X25 model features the same internal hardware as the standard Series X but is distinguished by its 'OG Green' semi-transparent retro design. Despite Microsoft's previous indications that they were prioritizing solutions to combat scalping, stocks at major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy were depleted within minutes of the pre-order opening.
