Xbox shifts to case‑by‑case approach for exclusive titles

Xbox’s new leadership said the company will expand its exclusive‑game line once its business becomes healthier. CEO Asha Sharma told Fortune Conversations that “our business is not particularly healthy,” but emphasized that securing exclusive titles remains a priority and aims to make Xbox the leading gaming brand by 2030.

Chief Content Officer Matt Booty explained that future exclusives will be decided “case‑by‑case.” Microsoft confirmed two upcoming Xbox‑only releases – Gears of War: E‑Day in October 2026 and Clockwork Revolution in 2027 – which will launch on Xbox consoles and PC only. The strategy will keep single‑player games as potential exclusives while multiplayer titles stay multi‑platform. Existing commitments, such as the Fable reboot and Halo: Campaign Evolved, will still appear on PlayStation 5, honoring prior promises.

The flexible policy aims to reward long‑time Xbox fans, attract new console buyers, and strengthen the brand’s market position over the next decade.
