Xbox showcases Gears of War, Halo and Unreal Engine plans at Unreal Fest 2026

The Coalition, the studio behind Gears of War, said it never discussed a PlayStation 5 version of the upcoming Gears of War: E‑Day, despite a trailer that listed a PS5 format and a PEGI rating. Studio leaders Matt Searcy and Nicole Fawcette emphasized that the game remains an Xbox exclusive, leaving the existence of a near‑finished PS5 build uncertain.

At the same time, Xbox announced a strong presence at Unreal Fest 2026 in Chicago (June 16‑18). The company will highlight its Unreal Engine 5 strategy, featuring talks from The Coalition and Halo Studios on integrating the engine, new developer tools, Microsoft GDK plugins, and streamlined processes for bringing PC games to Xbox. The event aims to support developers across the Xbox ecosystem and showcase long‑term plans for Halo and Gears of War on Unreal Engine 5.
