XCMG breaks ground on remanufacturing center in Balikpapan

Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer XCMG has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first overseas remanufacturing center in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The facility, known as PT XCMG Indonesia Remanufacturing Center, is designed to serve as a hub for the overhaul and remanufacturing of mining equipment components.

According to Ren Daming, General Manager of XCMG Mining Machinery Business Division, the center aims to provide comprehensive lifecycle services. The facility will integrate core component remanufacturing, regional spare parts warehousing, local technical training, and the reconditioning of used units. This move is intended to reduce equipment downtime and lower operational costs for mining customers in the region.

The project is part of XCMG’s broader localization strategy in Indonesia, which already includes a new energy manufacturing base, a research and development center focused on tropical climate adaptation, and dedicated financing solutions. This expansion marks a shift for the company from a traditional heavy equipment provider to a full-service operational solutions provider within the Indonesian and Southeast Asian markets.
