XCMG launches Hanjing next-generation electric heavy truck
XCMG has launched the Hanjing, a next-generation new energy heavy truck designed for long-haul and cross-regional freight. Developed since 2023 in collaboration with logistics companies, the vehicle features an 800-volt architecture capable of megawatt-class fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in less than 20 minutes.
The Hanjing incorporates a low-drag cab, an integrated electric drive axle, and intelligent controls to optimize energy consumption. To ensure reliability, the truck underwent rigorous testing, including a 2,198-kilometer endurance run at a fully loaded gross weight of 49 tons. XCMG also offers an integrated system including charging infrastructure and connected fleet management.
This technological advancement aligns with a broader trend in China, where electric trucks are rapidly gaining market share. In China, electric models accounted for approximately 30% of new truck sales last year, a figure that has risen to nearly 50% this year. The transition is driven by the increasing cost-effectiveness and operational ease of electric powertrains compared to diesel.
