XDOF seeks $1.2 billion valuation in Series B funding round

Robotics startup XDOF is in advanced discussions for a Series B funding round, with an expected valuation of approximately $1.2 billion. The company, founded in October 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu, Fred Shentu, and Nemo Jin, focuses on collecting high-quality motion data essential for training humanoid robotic systems.

Industry reports indicate that the venture capital firm 8VC may lead this funding round. XDOF has demonstrated rapid growth, approaching an annualized revenue of $50 million following a $70 million Series A round completed in June 2026.

The surge in XDOF’s valuation reflects a broader industry trend where high-quality movement data has become a critical bottleneck for humanoid robot development. This shift is characterized by massive investments in data infrastructure, such as Figure AI’s billion-dollar ‘Index’ initiative and large-scale GPU scaling partnerships to support robotic training workloads.
