Xenia Smits eyes handball European Championship comeback

German handball player Xenia Smits is considering a return to the national team for the upcoming European Championship in Slovakia and Poland. Following the birth of her son, Finn, in August, the 32-year-old backcourt player has been undergoing a gradual physical recovery process.

Smits has indicated that while she is currently focusing on light cardio, cycling, and strength training, she is not rushing her return. She stated that her participation depends on her physical readiness and performance levels. The final squad selection by national coach Markus Gaugisch is expected this Friday.
