Xerez CD supporters demand delivery of 2010 Gold Medal

Supporters of the football club Xerez CD are renewing their demand for the city of Jerez to deliver a Gold Medal that was officially granted in 2010. The award was intended to recognize the club's promotion to the First Division in 2009.

The Xerez CD Museum Commission and the Agrupación de Peñas XCD 1947 have issued a joint statement claiming that the failure to hold the ceremony constitutes an anomaly. They note that the award was passed unanimously by the municipal corporation and, according to local regulations, should have been presented during an extraordinary and solemn session of the City Council.

Both organizations state they have attempted to resolve the matter with various municipal governments over the years, including during the club's 75th anniversary four years ago, but have received no response or administrative information. They are now bringing the claim to all political groups represented in the municipality to seek a definitive solution.
