Xi Jinping faces protests in India and health rumors
During the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Chinese President Xi Jinping faced protests from Tibetan demonstrators. Members of the Tibetan Youth Congress followed his motorcade, chanting slogans for Tibetan independence and calling for the liberation of Tibet. Some protesters attempted to breach police cordons during the demonstrations.
Separately, Xie Wanjun, Chairman of the China Democracy Party, has made claims regarding President Xi’s health. Xie alleged that following the summit, Xi was transported via military helicopter from the Beijing airport directly to the Beijing 301 Hospital for emergency medical treatment. The claims suggest that the President’s health may have begun to deteriorate during his time in India and that the usual official reception protocols at the airport were bypassed due to the urgency of the situation.
