Xi Jinping leads ceremony marking Jiang Zemin's birth centenary FAST-MOVING

President Xi Jinping led a high-level commemorative event at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of former leader Jiang Zemin. The ceremony was attended by all seven members of the Politburo Standing Committee, along with several retired senior officials including Premier Li Qiang, former Premier Wen Jiabao, and former Vice President Wang Qishan.

In a 40-minute speech, Xi praised Jiang’s legacy, specifically noting his role in maintaining stability during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and his leadership in overseeing the successful return of Hong Kong and Macau. Xi also emphasized the importance of economic development remaining under the firm leadership of the Communist Party.

The event follows the recent death of former Premier Zhu Rongji. Xi called for an ‘indomitable fighting spirit’ to address current national challenges, including economic growth, technological autonomy, and geopolitical tensions, while urging heightened vigilance against potential future dangers.
