Xi Jinping issues greetings for China's 42nd Teachers' Day

On the occasion of the 42nd Teachers' Day, President Xi Jinping extended greetings and congratulations to educators across China. He emphasized the importance of the “educator spirit” and urged teachers to fulfill their mission of cultivating talent for national rejuvenation.

China has implemented various initiatives to strengthen its teaching workforce, including the “National Training Program” and the “Excellent Teacher Program” for underdeveloped regions. Statistics indicate significant improvements in teacher qualifications; by the end of 2025, the proportion of teachers with a bachelor's degree or higher is expected to reach 85.3% at the primary level and over 99% at the senior high school level.

To support the profession, the government has focused on improving teacher compensation, ensuring average salaries for compulsory education teachers remain at or above local civil servant levels, and providing housing security and subsidies for rural educators.
