Xi Jinping leads CPC plenary session on party discipline
Chinese President Xi Jinping has convened the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing. The closed-door meeting, involving approximately 300 high-ranking members, focuses on rigorous party governance and anti-corruption measures.
Xi has emphasized the necessity of unquestioned authority and the elimination of “two-faced” officials who publicly support directives while privately resisting them. These efforts come amid ongoing purges within military and civilian leadership ranks.
Simultaneously, provincial-level leadership reshuffles are occurring across China, including recent party congresses in Anhui, Shanxi, and Henan. These appointments, which are expected to continue through 2027, highlight an aging trend among senior officials and serve as a precursor to the 21st National Congress.
