Xi Jinping skips BRICS gala dinner in New Delhi due to fatigue
Chinese President Xi Jinping skipped the official BRICS gala dinner hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, opting to rest at his hotel instead. Sources attributed his absence to fatigue and exhaustion following a demanding schedule that included immediate participation in summit sessions and bilateral meetings upon his arrival in India.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the gala dinner at Bharat Mandapam to represent Beijing. The event was attended by other global leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite missing the dinner, President Xi completed key diplomatic engagements during the 18th BRICS Summit. He held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi to discuss trade, connectivity, and the importance of stability along their shared border. Xi emphasized that China and India should approach their relationship from a strategic, long-term perspective, while Modi underscored that peace along the frontier is essential for the continued development of bilateral relations.
