Xi'an man faces debt after canceled livestream car purchase

A 27-year-old man in Xi'an, China, is facing monthly debt collection notices for a car loan despite never receiving the vehicle. The victim, identified as Wang, attempted to purchase a used Jeep Gladiator through a livestream on Douyin.

After negotiating the price with a showroom employee named Cao, Wang initiated a loan process for approximately 270,000 NDT (roughly 1.04 billion VND). Although Wang eventually canceled the transaction and received a partial refund of his deposit, a loan had already been approved and disbursed without his knowledge.

According to a loan facilitator named Dong, the funds were transferred in two installments to the showroom owner, Mr. Zhang. Wang is now being held responsible for a loan for a vehicle he does not possess.
