Xianyu denies hosting obscene content, reports illegal diversion to police

Xianyu has released the results of an investigation following media reports regarding the presence of obscene content and illegal diversion to other platforms. The company stated that a comprehensive audit of its publicly displayed information found no obscene content, specifically denying the existence of material involving minors on the platform.

Regarding the controversial chat screenshots cited in media reports, Xianyu clarified that the illegal communications and the use of certain coded language occurred on other social platforms or via Enterprise WeChat, rather than within the Xianyu app itself. The company noted that users were being diverted from Xianyu to external platforms to conduct illegal transactions.

In response, Xianyu has established a specialized task force to combat sexual content diversion and fraud. The platform has implemented a governance mechanism involving identification, immediate disposal, and police-enterprise coordination. Xianyu reported that since January 2026, it has frozen 98,358 risk accounts related to such activities and has collaborated with police to crack down on 15 criminal syndicates. The company has also filed a police report regarding the diversion activities and called for other internet platforms to form an anti-diversion alliance to combat black and gray industries.
