Xiaomi advances smart home appliance design and specialized product R&D

Xiaomi is expanding its smart home appliance portfolio with a focus on integrated design and specialized functionality. Shan Lianyu, General Manager of Xiaomi’s Large Home Appliances Department, highlighted design innovations aimed at blending appliances into home environments. Key products include the Mijia Air Conditioner Pro, featuring top-airflow to prevent direct drafts, and the Mijia Dual-Zone Washing Machine Pro, which fits two independent drums into a standard footprint. Additionally, Xiaomi is prioritizing elderly-friendly designs by adding text labels to buttons on appliances like rice cookers and kettles, and implementing voice reminders for safety-critical devices like door locks.

In a separate development, Xiaomi has clarified its research direction for a dedicated shoe washing machine. Following user surveys, the company aims to address specific pain points that standard washing machine cycles fail to solve, specifically focusing on deep cleaning complex shoe structures, preventing deformation or glue separation, and effective sterilization and odor removal.
