Xiaomi and Huawei implement distinct high-end smartphone strategies

Xiaomi is facing challenges with its upcoming high-end smartphone lineup due to rising RAM chip costs and potential regional specification disparities. While the Xiaomi 18 Pro launched in China with a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, leaks from HyperOS code suggest global versions, particularly in Europe, may feature reduced capacities of 6,000 mAh. Additionally, the Pro model's fast charging might be lowered from 100W to 90W in international markets, a move reportedly driven by import costs and tariffs.

In China, Huawei is executing a targeted commercial strategy to attract Apple users to its Pura X View wide-format device. By positioning the phone as a secondary device that can eventually replace the iPhone, Huawei has successfully converted approximately 30% of its recent wide-format buyers from the Apple ecosystem. The device features a 6.39-inch screen, a 7,000 mAh battery, the proprietary Kirin processor, and HarmonyOS.
