Xiaomi announces HyperOS 4 beta rollout for select devices

Xiaomi has announced the rollout of its HyperOS 4 customization layer, which is based on Android 17. The update aims to improve performance and aesthetics across the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO device lineups.

A limited beta phase is expected to begin in August, initially restricted to testers in China. Key visual updates include the ‘Liquid Glass’ interface featuring translucent effects, stackable widgets, and a redesigned lock screen with dynamic elements. The update also introduces the ‘Super XiaoAI’ assistant and a new ‘Soft Light Glass’ material effect.

The beta rollout will occur in stages. The first group of eligible devices includes the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (including Leica edition), Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17, Redmi K90 Pro Max, Redmi K90, Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, Xiaomi Pad 8, and Xiaomi TV S Pro Mini LED. A second group includes the Xiaomi 17 Max, Xiaomi 17T Pro, and Xiaomi 17T. Users are advised to ensure their devices are running the latest version of HyperOS 3 before attempting the update.
