Xiaomi launches global beta testing for HyperOS 4

Xiaomi has officially launched the global beta testing program for HyperOS 4, its next-generation operating system based on Android 17. The rollout is targeting users with Global and European Economic Area (EEA) firmware versions.

The recruitment process is being conducted in two distinct waves. The first wave includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. A second wave is scheduled to begin on September 17, expanding eligibility to the Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 15, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

HyperOS 4 introduces several technical and aesthetic updates, including a Liquid Glass UI, enhanced AI automation, and the HyperCore Performance Engine designed to reduce frame drops. It also features expanded HyperIsland Live Activities for real-time notifications.

Xiaomi advises users that beta software may be unstable, potentially causing app compatibility issues, increased battery consumption, or overheating. Notably, downgrading from HyperOS 4 back to HyperOS 3 cannot be done via standard OTA updates and requires a manual firmware reinstallation, which may result in data loss.
