Xiaomi begins HyperOS 4 beta rollout in China

Xiaomi has begun the rollout of its new customization layer, HyperOS 4, starting with beta testing in China. A significant strategic shift for this version is its integration with Android 17, bypassing Android 16 as the base operating system. This decision may impact device compatibility, potentially excluding some mid-range models.

The beta deployment is organized into several phases. The first phase, which began on August 14, included flagship devices such as the Xiaomi 17 series and Pad 8 tablets. The second phase started on August 28, adding models like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Redmi K90 Max. A third phase is scheduled for September 17, which is expected to include the Redmi K100 Pro Max.

While the stable version is expected in China by late September, the global release is projected to occur between late 2026 and early 2027. European users can expect the update several months after the initial rollout.
