Xiaomi begins HyperOS 4 rollout with Android 17 foundation
Xiaomi has begun the stable rollout of its HyperOS 4 operating system, built on Android 17. The deployment officially commenced in China on October 15, 2026, targeting flagship models such as the Xiaomi 17 series, Redmi K100 Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 8.
HyperOS 4 introduces HyperCore technology, which aims to optimize hardware performance by improving RAM management and reducing battery consumption. Reports indicate the update can maintain approximately 28% more free memory after eight hours of intense use compared to HyperOS 3. Additionally, the update provides system-wide color management for certain Redmi models and addresses various security vulnerabilities.
The global rollout is expected to be staggered. While Chinese users are receiving the stable version, users in Europe and other regions may face delays, with widespread availability potentially occurring between late 2026 and early 2027. The update will eventually reach a wide range of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices, including some older models.
