Xiaomi develops specialized smart shoe-cleaning appliance

Xiaomi Group is developing a specialized smart appliance dedicated to cleaning footwear. Shan Lianyu, General Manager of the company’s Large Home Appliances Division, announced that the team is working on this concept to address high user demand.

To guide the development process, Xiaomi has launched an online survey to gather consumer insights. The company is investigating current cleaning habits, such as whether users wash shoes by hand, use professional cleaning services, or utilize standard washing machines. The goal is to identify specific pain points and desired features to ensure the new device meets market needs.

While Xiaomi currently offers shoe-washing programs within its Mijia washing machine line, this new project aims to create a standalone model. Specific technical details, such as capacity, energy consumption, or cleaning mechanisms like rotating brushes or high-pressure water, have not yet been disclosed.
