Xiaomi expands automotive reach with digital hypercar and new electric sports car prototype

Xiaomi is expanding its automotive presence through both digital simulation and physical prototype development. In collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the developer of ‘Gran Turismo 7’, the company has unveiled the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo. This electric hypercar is designed exclusively for the ‘Vision Gran Turismo’ racing simulation project and is currently on display at IFA in Berlin.

The concept vehicle emphasizes advanced aerodynamics, featuring a teardrop-shaped cockpit, specialized air channels, and a ring-shaped rear light that functions as an air outlet. It aims for a drag coefficient of 0.29 using systems like ‘Active Wake Control’. The interior, dubbed the ‘Sofa Racer’, is designed to create a cocoon-like environment for the driver, integrating with Xiaomi’s ‘Human x Car x Home’ ecosystem through digital features like ‘Xiaomi Pulse’.

Parallel to this digital project, Xiaomi is also developing physical high-performance electric vehicles. Recent sightings at the Xiaomi campus have revealed a heavily camouflaged two-door prototype equipped with a large rear wing. This model appears to be a dedicated two-door evolution of the company’s existing electric platform, signaling a continued push into the high-performance electric sports car segment.
