Xiaomi HyperOS 4 introduces Apple ecosystem integration

Xiaomi is rolling out HyperOS 4, a new operating system based on Android 17 that aims to replace the legacy MIUI architecture. The update focuses on system optimization, including improved CPU, GPU, and memory management, which is expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 10%.

A major feature of HyperOS 4 is its enhanced compatibility with the Apple ecosystem. Testing on devices like the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max suggests users will be able to share photos, files, contacts, and web links with iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This includes an AirDrop-style sharing mechanism and the ability to sync cloud photo albums, notifications, and instant messages across platforms.

Additionally, the update introduces desktop integration, allowing Xiaomi users to control their phones via Mac and iPad through connectivity apps. While testing is underway, a wider rollout for compatible models is expected to begin progressively in mid-October.
