Xiaomi announces HyperOS 4, massive MiMo AI model, and Apple Watch support
Xiaomi has announced major technological advancements involving its software ecosystem and artificial intelligence. The company is rolling out HyperOS 4, based on Android 17, which introduces the ‘Soft Light Glass’ design language. This update features translucent layers and improved visual depth across the interface. Performance is bolstered by the Super XiaoAi 2.0 assistant, powered by the MiMo V2.5 language model, which offers advanced contextual understanding and multi-step command execution.
In a significant move for cross-platform connectivity, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will support Apple Watch. This integration allows users to manage calls, receive notifications, and sync fitness and health data between the smartwatch and the Android device, facilitating easier transitions between ecosystems.
Furthermore, Xiaomi has unveiled MiMo-V2.6-Pro, a massive large language model featuring 1.02 trillion parameters. Utilizing a Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture, the model optimizes computational resources by activating approximately 42 billion parameters during inference. The model is multimodal, capable of processing text, images, audio, and video, and is designed to compete with leading open-source models in coding and complex task planning.
