Xiaomi launches HyperOS 4 with new Liquid Glass design

Xiaomi has launched HyperOS 4, the fourth generation of its digital ecosystem, introducing significant visual and functional upgrades over HyperOS 3. The update centers on a new design language called ‘Soft Light Glass’ or ‘Liquid Glass,’ which utilizes translucent surfaces, blur effects, and depth to create a three-dimensional interface. This aesthetic shift moves away from the solid color blocks used in previous versions, aiming to unify the visual language across Xiaomi’s entire portfolio, including smartphones and smart appliances.

To support these visual changes, Xiaomi has restructured its graphics processing engines and implemented advanced code optimization to ensure that transparency and blur effects do not significantly impact battery life. The system also features deeper AI integration and enhanced customization options, such as redesigned lock screen clock faces and stacked notifications. The update focuses on system optimization and stability, with reports indicating that certain system applications are being ported to newer technologies, such as Rust, to improve performance.
