Xiaomi launches premium Watch S5 smartwatch with dual‑band GPS and 21‑day battery

Xiaomi introduced the Watch S5, a 46 mm stainless‑steel smartwatch equipped with a 2.5 k nit AMOLED display and a claimed battery life of up to 21 days. The device supports a dual‑band GNSS chip that works with five satellite systems (BeiDou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS), delivering about 33 % better positioning accuracy than earlier models.

More than 150 sport modes are pre‑installed, including specialised algorithms for tennis, padel, martial arts, HIIT and dance. For outdoor activities the watch acts as a real‑time bike computer, a detailed running coach with ground‑contact and vertical‑oscillation metrics, and a ski tracker that can trigger an automatic emergency call after a fall. Additional features include offline colour maps for hiking, a “Passion Mode” that counts calories while users cheer for sports teams, and standard health sensors such as continuous heart‑rate and SpO₂ monitoring.

The launch is part of Xiaomi’s broader wearable strategy, which also offers lower‑priced options like the Redmi Watch 5 Active and the Xiaomi Watch 2, positioning the brand across budget and premium segments.
