Xiaomi to launch HyperOS 4.0 in August with major performance and AI upgrades
Xiaomi is preparing to debut its HyperOS 4.0 update in August 2026, according to multiple leaks from China. The new operating system replaces the legacy MIUI code base and is rebuilt with Rust and the Flutter framework. Test data suggest a 40% rise in system fluidity, a 35% increase in background‑app capacity, up to a 30% cut in idle RAM consumption and only a 5% performance drop after a year of heavy use. A new design language called “Liquid Glass” will offer Transparent and Soft visual styles. On‑device artificial‑intelligence models, named Mimo and Miclaw, will enable local summarisation, translation and image editing without sending data to servers. File‑transfer speeds between Xiaomi devices are projected to triple, supporting seamless work across phones, tablets and laptops. The update is expected to roll out first on the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series and then to models such as Xiaomi 17, 15, Redmi K90 and POCO F9. While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed a date, the consistency of the reports points to an August launch.
