Xiaomi MiMo-V2.5 tops global AI model usage as China leads

OpenRouter data for the week of 20‑26 July shows global AI large‑model calls reaching 58 trillion tokens, a 6.75 % week‑over‑week decline. Chinese models contributed 33 trillion tokens, about 14.1 times the United States' 2.34 trillion, maintaining a 13‑week lead. Xiaomi’s MiMo‑V2.5 accounted for 10.5 trillion tokens, up 12 % and becoming the first model to break the 10‑trillion‑token mark. The model is priced at US$0.105 per million input tokens and US$0.28 per million output tokens.

In parallel, HSBC Holdings announced a new Global Artificial‑Intelligence Center of Excellence in Singapore, planning to hire over 100 AI specialists to enhance wealth‑management services, financial‑technology solutions and digital payments. Additionally, a coalition of roughly two‑dozen technology firms, including Nvidia, Microsoft, Adobe, SpaceX AI, IBM, SAP, Dell and Cisco, launched an OpenAI Safety Alliance to develop shared tools for responsible AI development and deployment.
