Xiaomi tops China’s sub‑2000 yuan smartphone market as Redmi Note 17 slated for release
Data released on July 5 covering January‑May shows that in China’s 0‑2000 yuan price segment Xiaomi holds the largest share at 21%, followed closely by Vivo at 20%, OPPO at 19%, Honor at 18% and Huawei at 12%; other brands together account for 11%, while Apple has no presence in this tier. The figures illustrate a tightly contested budget market amid rising production costs that are squeezing features traditionally found in low‑price phones.
Xiaomi announced that it will launch a new Redmi Note 17 series this month, branding it as a “new generation little golden warrior.” The lineup is said to include a 9,000 mAh‑class battery, a 1.5K high‑resolution display, dual loudspeakers and full waterproof‑dustproof durability, aiming to preserve high‑end experiences for mass‑market consumers.
