Xidong Line MRT reaches 31% completion with 2032 target

The Xidong Line MRT project in New Taipei City has reached a construction progress of 31.23%. The 5.56-kilometer line, which includes six elevated stations, is currently targeting completion by 2032.

Technical updates from the New Taipei City MRT Engineering Bureau indicate that the project has transitioned to a Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system. This upgrade allows for a minimum headway of 90 seconds between trains. To further increase capacity, officials plan to connect passenger carriages to expand available space.

In the Xizhi District, the project is influencing the local real estate market. According to the Xizhi Land Office, residential property prices along the line remain stable, with average prices per ping ranging from 470,000 to 590,000 TWD, while pre-sale homes in areas like Kangning Street have reached between 600,000 and 800,000 TWD. The area's population has surpassed 210,000, driven by the development of the Xizhi Science Park and proximity to employment hubs in Neihu and Nangang.
