XIII National Pre-Junior Games Azuay 2026 conclude in Ecuador

The XIII National Pre-Junior Games Azuay 2026 concluded with Pichincha taking first place with 254 medals, followed by Guayas with 197 and host Azuay with 107. The competition featured over 3,500 athletes from across Ecuador participating in 19 sports and 26 disciplines.

The Loja delegation finished in 13th place out of 24 participating provinces, securing a total of 34 medals: 5 gold, 4 silver, and 25 bronze. Notable contributions came from wrestling (7 medals), artistic gymnastics (6), weightlifting (6), athletics (3), and swimming (3). Wrestling instructor Michael Rodríguez highlighted the significant effort made by the athletes.

In individual achievements, Katherine Uvidia from Chimborazo earned a silver medal in women’s freestyle Olympic wrestling in the 53kg category. Her performance contributed to Chimborazo’s medal count during the tournament held in Azuay, Guayas, and Santa Elena.
