Xingu Indigenous Culture and Games Festival Concludes in Altamira

The II Festival of Indigenous Culture and Games of the Xingu ended on Sunday after four days of events in Altamira, Brazil. More than 1,500 participants from 14 indigenous ethnic groups gathered at the city’s waterfront, competing in traditional sports such as archery, spear‑throwing, relay races and the 100‑metre sprint.

The closing program also featured cultural performances, a traditional Indigenous couple parade and an awards ceremony. The festival attracted thousands of visitors, stimulating local tourism and commerce through an artisan market and food plaza. Sponsors included Equatorial Pará, Belo Sun Mining and Caixa Econômica Federal.
